How to Keep Your Skin Moisturized During the Winter

The cold effects of winter can cause even the healthiest skin to dry out very quickly. Fortunately there are several things that we can do to help keep our skin looking and feeling soft and healthy. Here are a few tips that you can follow to protect your skin all through the season and keep it hydrated. 

Avoid Artificial Heat as much as Possible
Sometimes spending time indoors can be just as harmful to your skin as staying outside in the wind and snow. Artificial heat can dry out the air around us when we are indoors, and that takes away the moisture in our skin. Invest in a good humidifier to use during the winter to restore moisture back into the air, and into your skin. 

Keep Your Hands Protected

Cracked and painful skin on your hands can be a nuisance to deal with. So it is important that you always keep them protected from the cold temperatures by wearing gloves each and every time you step outside. Applying a moisturizing hand lotion several times a day is another way to ensure that your hands will stay soft and smooth. 

Refresh Your Face Each Day 

Use a mild facial cleanser to remove dirt and makeup from your skin each night, but do not wash your face with heavy soaps or cleansers in the morning. These products can often dry out your skin, especially during the winter. Instead gently clean your face with water each morning using a soft washcloth. Add a bit of moisturizer if needed throughout the day in order to keep your skin from drying out. 

The winter season can do a number on our skin and cause it to become extremely dry and painful at times. Be prepared by following these simple steps so that you can enjoy the cooler temperatures and the beauty of the winter wonderland around you.
